Rongke Power Completes 100MW/400MWh Vanadium Flow Battery Project in Cold-Climate Region
Rongke Power is proud to announce the successful commissioning of the 100MW/400MWh Songyuan Vanadium Flow Battery (VFB) Energy Storage Station, setting a new benchmark in long-duration energy storage within cold-climate regions. This milestone represents the largest shared energy storage station utilizing VFB technology to date, underscoring its reliability and scalability in challenging conditions.
Advancing Renewable Energy Integration with Shared Storage
Located in Songyuan, this state-of-the-art energy storage station addresses critical challenges in integrating renewable energy into the grid. Leveraging the unique capabilities of VFB technology—including high efficiency, long cycle life, and robust safety—this system improves grid stability and maximizes the utilization of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar.
The project pioneers a shared storage model, enabling a single energy storage station to support multiple renewable energy generation facilities. By transitioning from traditional one-to-one configurations to a scalable “one-to-many” setup, this system significantly enhances operational efficiency, optimizes renewable energy usage, and reduces investment costs for energy producers. Supporting 13 renewable energy facilities, it is a model for large-scale, cost-effective energy storage.
Proven Performance in Cold-Climate Regions
Engineered to operate reliably in subzero temperatures, this project demonstrates the adaptability of VFB technology to demanding environments. The station is expected to absorb approximately 300 million kWh of renewable energy annually, reducing curtailment while delivering stable power during critical periods such as peak winter and spring seasons. This ensures a reliable energy supply that directly supports regional economic and social development.
Paving the Way for Sustainable Energy Solutions
The successful commissioning of this project highlights the potential of centralized, shared energy storage systems to address modern energy challenges. It validates vanadium flow battery technology as an ideal solution for large-scale, long-duration storage applications. This achievement reflects Rongke Power’s dedication to advancing clean energy technologies and driving the global energy transition.
Looking ahead, Rongke Power will continue to collaborate with grid operators and industry partners to explore broader applications of vanadium flow battery systems in similar environments. Together, we aim to enhance renewable energy adoption, strengthen grid resilience, and contribute to a sustainable energy future.
